Refugee Festival Scotland Events

The Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project are proud to be co-hosting two fantastic public events in the Refugee Festival Scotland 2022 – celebrating the huge contribution refugees have made to life in Scotland! These events are part of a series of community collaborations The Rediscovering the Antonine Wall Project has been working on with Jasmine and Thistle Syrian and Scottish Women’s group, artist Paria Goodarzi and CSREC’s Global Language Café.

Both events are free to attend but be sure to book.                 

Walk and Picnic

Saturday June 18, 11:00-15:00, Howgate Shopping Centre to Callendar Park

A walk and picnic with Central Scotland Regional Equalities Council’s Global Language Café and artist Paria Goodarzi.

The Global Language Café invites you to join us for a walk from Howgate Shopping Centre along the historic site of the Antonine Wall to Callendar Park, where we will share a picnic together. As we walk we will explore stories and artwork that the Language Café group have made with artist Paria Goodarzi as part of the Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project.

Family Fun Day

Saturday June 25, 11:00-16:00, Peel Park

Scottish and Syrian women’s group Jasmine and Thistle invites you to a fun family day at the Antonine Wall, sharing delicious food (both local and global) and stories from the past and present.

The event will include: Syrian Storytelling for Children, A Picnic of the Past and Present, The opportunity to share songs, music or poetry, Clay making activities, Prizes for the family, Guided meditation, Museum object handling and lots more!
